It will soon be Advent which marks the start of the Christian year. It is a time to prepare and focus ourselves on the coming of Christ to the world. As we journey through Advent and the Christmas season draws closer it is important to reflect on just how the coming child we will celebrate really does make a difference in our lives.
To help us do so, this year All Saints will be having a ‘day of quiet reflection’ on Tuesday 28th November. Most of us don’t have the time to easily commit to an entire day, especially if we are working. The day will therefore be structured so that you can come and go to participate in a way that your circumstances allow.
Everything will be centred on our church building and a simple timetable will be provided for the day to help you decide when is best for you to come along if you wish. The main period for brief led reflections, followed by a time of silence, will be from lunchtime until Evening Prayer. The church will be open at 6.30am for a service of Morning Prayer followed by breakfast in the café! It will also be open in the evening so if you are having to work that day, there will be some time available for you to participate. The day will end with Compline (Night Prayer) by candle light at 9pm. Please add the date to your diaries and further announcements about the programme for the day will follow.
