News
We were delighted to be able to make the following announcement to the parish at services on 21st November: ‘Following recent interviews, the Bishop of Guildford has offered the post of Vicar of All Saints’ to the Revd Maria Pallis, subject to the usual checks, and she has accepted the position.
‘Having been members of the interview panel with Bishop Ian and Archdeacon Julian, your Churchwardens wholeheartedly support this unanimous appointment.’
Maria is currently Priest in Charge of two parishes in the Diocese of Ripon and Leeds. We do not yet have a date for her Service of Induction and Installation but would expect her to take up her new post in the Spring.
We ask you all for your prayers and support for us, the parish and Maria over the next few months. We continue to be extremely grateful to Revd Pat for all her hard work as she continues to lead and support all that is happening in the parish. Also our thanks go to Readers George, Rosemary and Vivien and Cathy, our Parish Administrator, for all they do.
We look forward to the New Year with confidence and excitement.

What a fantastic time we all had at Holiday Fun Weerk 2010! 180 children, together with adults and teenagers had fun and excitement all week. We made new friends and renewed old friendships with others from the Banstead Five Churches.
On Monday we heard how the paralysed man, who so wanted to see Jesus, was lowered through the roof by his friends. Being a good friend makes you a superhero.
On Tuesday our own Father David told us about how Jesus calmed the storm whilst in the boat. This was a sad moment as it was Father David’s last year after having attended Fun Week for 17 years. We had to sing his favourite song ‘with Jesus in the boat we can smile at the storm’. Helping your friends when they are afraid will make you a superhero.
Then on Wednesday we had Roy’s favourite miracle the feeding of the 5000. We had lots of lovely food and learnt that sharing with others will make you a superhero.
Thursday saw Simon Peter (alias Father Damian) casting his net on the other side of the boat to catch many fish. This also was Father Damian’s last fun week and he certainly went out on a high. To be a superhero we must trust and persevere and be willing to do what Jesus asks of us even when it doesn’t make sense.
Friday came round all too quickly and we heard about Zaccheus and how he climbed a tree in order to see Jesus. Jesus will change our lives if we let him.
We sang a lot of our favourite songs and the theme song was ‘our God is a great big God and he holds us in His hands.
Each Group was named after a hero from the Bible, Moses, Noah, Samuel, Paul; but we all came to know the real Superhero JESUS a little better.
So no one misses out on next years Holiday Fun week put the date in your diary now. Monday 25th July to Friday 29th July 2011

Four years ago the Parish walked around its boundary for exercise and to raise money for USPG and The Mission to Seafarers. Another Walk has been arranged this year. It will take place on Saturday 12th June. Father David has volunteered to come! Any monies raised by sponsorship will again go to supporting the work of USPG and the Mission to Seafarers. Though we are keen supporters of St James’ Hospital and School, Mantšonyane, it is also important to give support to the main charity, USPG.
The Walk is about 9 miles in length and takes about 4½ hours. We will leave the Orchard at 9.45 am. We go from the church, past the Day Centre and on to Banstead Crossroads and Scout Ridge, From there we skirt the north side of Banstead Downs Golf Course, pass the Belmont bus depot and pass between the prison and Oaks Park and follow tracks back to Croydon Lane by the garden wholesaler. The path then crosses fields to Hengest Farm on Woodmansterne Lane. We turn left on Woodmansterne Lane to Kenneth Road and then over downland to the Holly Lane car park. We come back around the west side of Banstead Woods and Perrotts Farm. There will be a shorter option, joining the main walk where Kenneth Road ends in downland, and taking about 2 ½ hours.
At least one guide will be qualified for Child Protection. I hope that several of you will rise to the challenge and walk the whole route, perhaps sponsored by friends. For those who are not so keen to walk we will also need some help at some refreshment stops and we will need a sponsorship organiser to raise some sponsorship! If you feel that you can help in any way, I would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact Michael Cartwright on 350660. Sign up for the walk in church.
The Flower Arrangers look forward to decorating the church for Eastertide.
We hope to create some magnificent displays incorporating the beautiful arum lilies once again.
I would, therefore, like to hear from anyone wishing to
donate a lily in memory of a loved one (£3 each), or from
anyone who would like to make a donation
towards the cost of the other flowers.
