St James hospital Lesotho

We support the USPG Mission Hospital of St. James, Mantsonyane, Lesotho. Our annual commitment to this project is £3,000. We joined in the extra appeal for the building of the AIDS HIV clinic in 2007 raising over £7,000. We are sending a party to visit the hospital in October.

St. James Hospital is high up in the mountains of Lesotho at an altitude of 2,300 metres near the centre of the Kingdom. The hospital was founded in 1963 by the Anglican Church. It has 60 beds and serves 66,000 people who are scattered over 2,000 sq. kms. St James hospital LesothoSt. James is responsible for the implementation of curative and preventative services within its region. The terrain is difficult and many people live one or two day’s horse ride away from the hospital so a network of clinics and health posts has been set up. It is difficult to find hospital staff willing to live in the harsh conditions of Mantsonyane. St James Lesotho - mother and childDr. Elizabeth Hills, USPG, runs a dedicated and hard working team that we are concerned to support with our prayers and our money.
